Some of the more notable updates to the appearance of the rifle are in the inclusion of renewed machining on the “lower” magazine well. The magazine well has been flared to improve the magazine reloading capability of the rifle. In addition, specific parts have been finished with Cerakote for improved wear resistance. Perhaps the most outstanding difference is the inclusion of a barrier stop that screws right into the front of the magazine well for extra support and stability.

The aluminum free-float handguard also features a target-style flat bottom to improve stability and also includes an integral bottom 1.50″ dovetail which is compatible with RRS S.O.A.R and other similar QD tripod systems. Finally, the rifle includes both an adjustable factory-installed Ruger Precision MSR stock as well as a Sorbothane cheek pad which provides a comfortable and stable cheek-to-stock weld.

Overall, I think the Ruger Custom Shop has done a great job making select upgrades to the stock Ruger precision rifle. The Custom Shop has a great track record so far in my book for making unique and sensible upgrades to their platforms and the Ruger Precision Rifle is well-deserving of its own custom variant. If I could change just one thing about the rifle, I would have gone ahead and made the oversized bolt handle red too to match the rest of the rifle accents!
