Reader Comments of the Week

“The Taurus Judge Public Defender is a lightweight 5 shot revolver that shoots .45 LC and .410 shotshells. From bear to two-legged threats to snakes, this weapon can do it all and they even make speed loaders for them. Not super fast but they keep the various rounds in one place and you can load any combo you want for multiple threats. Clearly a close-in weapon which is a likely scenario for hiking. I have tested the .410 shotshells at a safe distance from a typical rattlesnake strike and found that #6 was the best spread with multiple hits on my snake target.”

“I have been carrying a MicroTech Stitch since they were made available and it has never been used, but is in my right front pocket at all times along with my Titanium & Scandium S&W Airlite 342 in my right rear pocket. Unless you are a collector, once you find a edc that is perfect for you, there is absolutely no reason to swap out your weapon. Muscle memory and the ability to use your defense weapon in a split second without thought of which one you stuck in your pocket before leaving home, may be the difference in living and dying!”

– RAT ROD, in response to 10 Best High-End EDC Knives – The Shooter’s Log

“Being short (5’6″) and we’ll stocky (210) with severe arthritis, concealed carry is difficult. Cross draw seems to work best, but finding holsters is difficult. I do not like appendix and physically cannot do lower back (2 back operations in the last year). I have had some luck with Aliengear for neutral draw hip inside waste, but have to very selective of outer garments which is difficult in the Arizona heat.”

– EMBE, in response to Best Holsters for Big and Tall Shooters
