Reader Comments of the Week

“Love it! Only suggestion is to be sure to modify size to fit where you are going to put your bench and add a power strip for electronic scales, etc. Did find that when I glued up two pieces of plywood that they shifted slightly. I used weights to hold the two sheets together, didn’t think to use screws instead. On mine, I added moulding strips around the bench top to restrain any spills, leaving a small gap to where I can sweep out those spills. Cheap 3/4 round moulding was ideal, and can be stained to match bench top. Note – I used two pieces of 3/4″ plywood, because I got one free cut when I bought a full sheet of plywood.”

– GRUMPY 49, in response to How to Build the Perfect Reloading Bench

“After reading the post by Mr. Wayne C. Ammer, I was curious about the Model 84BB, so I googled it. On a website I found, they were showing, for sale, a Beretta Model 84BB, made in 1990. They include a number of photos. Mr Ammer mentioned that he had never seen a Model 84BB in 380. Well, they very definitely make one. The pistol in the ad is stamped clearly on the left side of the frame, MOD 84BB CAL.9 Short. In another photo, 380 Auto is stamped on the open barrel.”

– STAN, in response to Beretta: A History of the World’s Oldest Firearm Company

“I agree about the 7mm08 but thumbs down on the 7mm SAUM, 338Feederaql and 243 Winchester: better the 358Winchester or 9.3×61 Mauser and 259 Savage or 25/06, Bad as the profiteering/gouging is these days,358Win is easily made from 308Win/7.62x51NATO, the 30-06 makes 8.3×62 Mauser,, the 30-06 makes 25/06. The 250 Savage is fun in a Savage 99.”

– LEFTY, in response to 5 Most Underrated Rifle Calibers

“I have both calibers for my SIG 229. I just change barrels. After all, the SIG 357 is a necked down 40 so the magazines fit perfectly. Quick break down and barrel change is easy. As far as shooting, I think the SIG 357 with the higher muzzle velocity is a bit more difficult to control during multiple shots. I switch on and off with my carry pistol as I don’t want one or the other to feel neglected in my gun safe.”

– MOSAICWOLF, in response to Showdown: .357 SIG Sauer vs. .40 Smith & Wesson
